About Us
We are two brothers from Portland, Maine. Our whole lives, we have talked about music together: from artists we love and hate (and why), sharing music, arguing about music, and connecting over it.

Josh, the older brother, loves 90s hip-hop, jazz, and soul. If Josh were stuck on a desert island with only 3 musical artists' works they would be Nina Simone, MF DOOM, and the Velvet Underground. . Outside of art, Josh loves Sociology, Judaism (the culture mostly), and Settlers of Catan. Currently living in Seattle.

Tobias, the younger brother, loves Yves Tumor, KAYTRANADA, Blood Orange, Snail Mail, and Choker, although he is constantly rotating his favorite artists. Last year Spotify wrapped estimated that he listed to about 7.5 hours of music each day. Along with his passion for music, he enjoys taking photos on his moms old 35mm film cameras, painting and working as a camp counselor in the summers. He will attened Occidental College next year in the class 27!
About this site
Music is our favorite form of art. It can be perspective-shifting, life changing, and deeply satisfying to listen to and immerse yourself in a song or album. In the age of fast entertainment and quick laughs, it is hard to really sit with an artist's work, to think about the intention and impact behind the sound. We like to view music (and albums especially) in the same way we think about a movie. Both can have interesting story, or stories to tell. Some movies are visually stunning. Similarly, some music doesn't have a lot to say, but it sounds beautiful. We think it's remarkable when an artist creates a work of music that is passionately well-crafted, possesses beautiful sound, and is genuinely personal, all while keeping it together in a cohesive body of work that only that one person could make.
Outside of music, we have a shared passion for painting, design, and art (often as it relates to music). Thus, we decided to include these mediums in For Nothing, Over Nothing.
